meet the artist
Hey! My name is Sophie, I'm a painter and illustrator who takes inspiration from my connection with others and the world around us. I currently take residence in Chicago, Illinois, but spent most of my life in Des Moines, Iowa.
When not creating, my time is spent on my motorcycle or playing with my cat, Korra!
My Story
I grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa, with a passion for art that led me to get my Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Iowa State University. I graduated in May of 2024 before taking a year hiatus to explore what I wanted to create going forward. Later, making the big move to Chicago, the Summer of 2025, to further my art career and try something new!
I'm a huge believer in 'art for art's sake' and creating things just for the experience of it. Most of my work incorporates animals and nature as representations of both self and life around me. I find inspiration from the connections I create with people and my environment, often leaning heavily into how opposites are connected.
